Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) / Stredouerópsky inštitút pre výskum práce
CELSI has extensive experience with international research projects in the field of industrial relations and social dialogue covering various EU member states. In particular, between 2011–2019, CELSI was part of more than 17 research projects funded by European Commission’s DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (Social Dialogue, Industrial Relations) and DG Justice (PROGRESS grant scheme). Other relevant projects were funded by ILO, CEEP, Eurofound, the World Bank, the European Parliament, European Trade Union Institute and the Dutch government. CELSI has experience both in projects with a quantitative scope as well as in-depth qualitative studies on changes in industrial relations. CELSI has also undertaken sector-specific research on industrial relations, covering a number of sectors, including the automotive. The research agenda of CELSI includes industrial relations and working conditions for precarious workers, evolution of collective bargaining, trends in organisation of trade unions and employers, responses to digitalisation and automation in the automotive sector, labour market participation, and policies pertaining to public services such as healthcare and education.
Institute for Political Ecology (IPE) / Institut za političku ekologiju
IPE is a research and educational organisation that designs alternative development models and innovative institutional frameworks for democratic political and economic transformation of society. The Institute addresses contemporary ecological changes as social phenomena that reduce or magnify social inequalities and influence power relations. IPE carries out transdisciplinary research and educational programs in cooperation with domestic and international institutions and organisations. Based on these, IPE provides expert analyses and a discussion platform for social movements and political and economic actors in Croatia and abroad that advocate ecologically sustainable, just and democratic society. IPE has experience in qualitative and quantitative social research design, implementation and presentation through staff experience and projects in just transition, energy and mobility sector transformations. Some researchers have a long-established cooperation with the unions in Croatia. The institute has experience in workshop organisation and continuous educational activities, and has a dedicated communications officer and a reference list of peer-reviewed, policy articles and monographs.
NELA. Next Economy Lab.
NELA is a young and dynamic lab for innovating the Next Economy. As an organization located in Bonn (Germany), our mission is to develop and implement concepts for a socially just transition towards a climate-positive economy. We facilitate socio-ecological transformation by advising stakeholders in politics, businesses and civil society on issues of structural change, growth independence and sustainable organizational development. What sets us apart is the capacity to apply a prolific mixture of knowledge on sustainability economics and co-creative methods. Our core activities range from consulting organizations on socially resilient development, conducting best-practice-research to facilitating co-creative. We provide our project partners with a vast network in the field of sustainable economic governance including scientists, companies, unions and politicians both regional and international. By bringing together these stakeholders we are constantly working to bridge the gap between socio- ecological trade-offs.
Next to our portfolio, we live by the values that we emphasize within our projects: sustainability, agility, personal responsibility, value orientation and flat hierarchies are the core principles that guide our work.
Masaryk University / Masarykova univerzita (MUNI)
MUNI is the second-largest university in the Czech Republic, employing over 2,000 academic staff across 9 faculties. The institution has a very international outlook, currently implementing about 500 grants, and is the most successful Czech applicant within the H2020 programme (hosting 95 H2020 projects in total). It also houses six prestigious European Research Council grants. The Department of Environmental Studies is located in the university’s Faculty of Social Studies, and is renowned for multidisciplinary research on society and the environment. The department has key strengths in ecological economics and political ecology, as well as strong links with relevant partner organisations, NGOs and government departments. Notably, the department has been part of the H2020 MEDEAS project, focusing on modelling transitions to a low-carbon economy. For more than 20 years, the department has emphasised bridging the social and natural sciences by studying the historical and present links between human society and nature, engaging in multidisciplinary qualitative and quantitative research to understand pathways to more ecological societies.
Ideas into energy gGmbH
Ideas into energy gGmbH was founded in 2017 to promote science, research, vocational training and development cooperation at international level for the dissemination of sustainable energy and environmental technologies. To this end, the company pursues the following measures: a) Analysis of national, European and international energy policy and other policy areas with relevance for energy supply, environmental protection and resource policy, b) Support of research projects and technical monitoring of scientific work in the field of renewable energies, energy efficiency and environmental technology, (c) making available to the public studies, research and other scientific knowledge arising from the achievement of the purpose. Since 2018, Ideas into energy has executed projects in the field of green and sustainable mobility and its impact on environment, economy and society.
Centre for Economic and Regional Studies (CERS, formerly Hungarian Academy of Sciences) / Közgazdaság- és Regionális Tudományi Kutatóközpont, Világgazdasági Intézet (KRTK)
The Institute of World Economics within KRTK has a long-standing history with its predecessors established in 1973. Since then, its researchers have engaged in analysing dynamics unfolding within the world economy and their relation to Hungary. The Institute’s expertise lies at the capabilities essential for this project: 1) A robust understanding of economic interdependencies between Hungary and other European countries; 2) The role the automotive sector plays in the Hungarian economy and how this relates to investment flowing into the country; 3) Regional economies and their relation to employment; 4) How innovation is shaping supply chains; 5) And the impact of the energy transition in Central and Eastern Europe.
Researchers at the institute have long-engaged in relevant topics, conducting scientific research, publishing these results in academic journals, drafting policy recommendations, and organising workshops that link to the country’s domestic automotive sector and the reverberations its changes have spurred.
Wise Europa
WiseEuropa is an independent think-tank and research organization based in Warsaw that undertakes a strategic reflection on European politics, foreign policy, economics and environmental issues. The research experience in the fields of national, European and global economic and institutional policies, public policy and governance, digital economy and innovation as well as energy, climate and environmental policies allows the Institute to offer analytical, consulting and communication services on the cross-cutting policy issues.
